How to Hide or Unhide the Netgear Extender SSID?

The process of hiding or unhiding the SSID of a Netgear wireless range extender is not a complex operation to carry out. It just involves accessing the wireless network settings through the login IP or URL and making a few changes. Here are the detailed steps involved in the process that you need to follow properly to make the desired changes.

1.Link Your PC and Extender

Get your hands on an Ethernet cable and attach it to the Netgear extender and your PC. This cable is supposed to be free of cuts. Using a damaged/fragmented cable won’t help you access the dashboard of the range extender via the loginURL and hide/unhide the SSID of your extender. Also, ensure the finger-tightness of the connection.

2.Access the Login Portal

The next step involves accessing the login portal of the range extender using the mywifiext URL. Therefore, depending upon the OS of the PC you are using, open a web browser and key in the default web address of the extender. Upon pressing Enter, you will be able to see the login portal, also known as, the admin portal of the range extender. Here, two blanks named Username and Password will appear.

3.Complete Login to Reach the Status Page

On the admin page, you must enter the login credentials of the extender. This can be admin and password if your extender is working on the default settings. These details are case-sensitive. Thus, be very careful. On the off chance, you have change the admin details of the extender, use them for reaching the dashboard of your device i.e. the BASIC Home screen.

4.Move to Wireless Settings

Now, on the dashboard of the WiFi range extender, you are suggested to move to the WiFi Settings tab and click it. A new page displaying the wireless settings of your Netgear range extender will appear. Here, you will see a box labeled Broadcast this Network Name. If that is already checked, you do not need to check it to enable the SSID broadcast. However, if you do not want the extender’s SSID to be available on any network list, it is recommended to uncheck this box and save the changes. The SSID broadcast will be disabled.

In this manner, you will be able to hide/unhide the SSID of your Netgear WiFi range extender. You are supposed to use the mywifiext.net address for local access to the extender on windows PC. However, use mywifiext.local for Mac devices. Also, ensure that you are using the latest version of the web browser for completing the process.
